The addition of a purpose built Visitor Experience at The Shed Distillery of PJ Rigney, the home of Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin, Drumshanbo Single Pot Still and other remarkable creations from the Curious Mind of PJ Rigney and the first distillery in Connacht in 101 years.
Innovative thinking can be seen throughout this highly engaging, stimulating and character filled building. Traditional forms found throughout the local landscape have been re-interpreted, always with a ‘twist’.
Everyday materials such as brick, glass and timber, each of which has had its own significant impact on the development of building facades and architecture over the centuries, have been combined in a most unique way to produce an innovative, intelligent and visually stunning building envelope. Colour, texture, smell, taste and sound are engaged with at every turn. Future flexibility and adaptability of layout has been incorporated throughout.
The completed building is a testament to the collective inputs of many consultants & trades each with their own specific areas of expertise. Just like the gin, vodka & whiskey produced therein, this building delivers a unique, extraordinary and remarkable building in the heart of rural Ireland.
