This unique design draws inspiration from the roscommon countryside and the gently flowing stream dissecting the site, in a north-south direction. Strong linear forms of dry-jointed, natural stone walls reach out to connect with the surrounding lush fields. Splashes of warm timber cladding reflects the mature clusters of oak trees, to the West of the site.
The kitchen is very much the heart of this contemporary home with all spaces flowing out from same. The living area offers the ability to connect with or isolate form the adjoining Kitchen/Dining area. A low-level ribbon window offers a beautiful panorama across the west of the site while also framing views to the stream and established oak trees.
A semi enclosed landscaped courtyard, to the north, provides a welcome sheltered area from the prevailing winds and allows the evening sun to penetrate deep into the kitchen behind. A double height glazed entrance connects the formal sitting room with the living zones and houses a modern, floating, feature staircase.
The dry-jointed natural stone walls continue from the exterior deep into the interior of the house and extends to the first floor circulation area where the stone is lit from above with multiple skylights to creating an interesting and dynamic play of light and shade on the stone work.
A private balcony is located on the first floor providing a beautiful ancillary outdoor recreation area with expansive views over the surrounding countryside.
The realisation of this luxurious, bespoke, contemporary home was made possible by the open-mindedness and trust placed in us, by our clients.
