This contemporary part two-story strongly geometrically shaped bespoke dwelling is set into the backdrop of beautiful woodland and lush natural boundaries.
Our clients desire was to downsize to a more modestly sized and energy efficient house with low running costs and this is reflected throughout the design. The Living areas are all located to the south of the dwelling where views and daylight are at their optimum. A timber staircase connects the generous entrance hallway with the gallery on the first floor providing access to the sleeping accommodation.
The texture of the carefully manicured dry jointed natural stone clad stairwell and chimney stacks combine to create a vertical emphasis to anchor the building into its natural setting. This is in contrast to the smooth horizontals expressed in the flat roofs and Garage. Complimented with a splash of warmth found in the panels of treated cedar cladding. The bespoke window fenestration pattern continues to draw on the verticality of the overall composition.
The rectilinear geometry of the house itself is contrasted yet perfectly complimented by the natural curved geometry contained in the landscaping and wild meadow planting.
